Hi, my name is Joe. I'm 45 and a recently single (again) Dad. After almost 24 years in the Air Force, I'll retire this spring and look forward to spending this summer with my son fishing, swimming and generally "beaching it up." I like to meet people, especially those with a heart for Jesus, a forgiving spirit and a sense of humor (lots of wit with a dash of good natured sarcasm).
I'm an everything-in-moderation kind of guy. I like to workout, just not two hours in the gym. I like to run and swim but I'm more of a 3-mile jog and a 30 min swim type of guy. So pick your sport or activity and I'm in, just as long as it doesn't burn up the whole day and it's even better if the kids can participate too. So, anything like camping, fishing, hiking, biking, water skiing, or snow skiing are things I enjoy, I just don't go to the extreme in any of them. I can cook, clean and keep pace with even the most domesticated of men, but please let me do it my way.
I've traveled a bit already, courtesy of Uncle Sam, but I'm always up for a new adventure. I've learned some of the most interesting places to explore are sometimes close to home. I'm happy to play tourist, but I'd rather spend time off the beaten path getting to know the locals.
For pure entertainment, I really enjoy spending time on the pistol range. There's just something intensely satisfying behind shooting holes in paper, the smell of gunpowder and the sound of firing rounds. Again, everything in moderation...but I could moderately go shooting once a day for fun.
I love reading the Bible and talking about the hidden Hebrew and Greek gems God placed there for us. If you reached the point in life where you understand (Romans 5:8) that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. And if you get what Paul is talking about in 2 Chronicles 5:18-19 regarding the ministry of reconciliation, then you will have discovered one of my truest passions. If you're a fan of the Old Testament, then we could talk for hours about all the cool prophecies few ever discuss like, The earth will be filled with knowledge of the glory of the Lord like the waters cover the sea (Hab 2:14). That is a pretty cool thought, eh?
I'm thankful God is working in my life...and there is still a lot of work left to do as I am still a work in progress. Things I am trying to get better at: golf, small engine repair, and carpentry.
What am I looking for: A woman who is constantly seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus, who reads her bible every day and talks about what she read, who is quick with a joke, who is comfortable with a spatula, a wrench, a firearm and a fishing pole, who believes her body is a temple and practices good temple maintenance by staying in shape, who likes to write as well as talk, who is filled with the Holy Spirit and can shout out praises to the King, who is respected for her calm demeanor and sweet speech, and one who is looking to spread the really good news about the Kingdom of God. Extra points for prophetesses, anyone who loves tall, fast, out-of-control roller coasters and Redskins fans (I just know God will grant us a winning season soon).

First date: Coffee, or something casual. Second date: Dinner and some nice conversation, followed by a nice walk on the beach. I am always intrigued by the person who is willing to share a great story about how Jesus is working in them or through them in a powerful way. I'm a good listener and like to hear what others have to share, especially something that makes them laugh.

Tavoitteeni elämässäni on
'll be retired by May 2011, then I plan to take time off and "grow my hair long" ( I haven't done that since I was 17). I will go fishing with my son, teach him how to play golf and laugh with him at least once a day. I plan to write a book and blog about the ministry of reconciliation. I am not sure what kind of employment the Lord will provide next, but I do know this: in the future, my work will flex around my primary job -- raising my son.
