I was the owner and administrator of a health careers school in McAllen, Tex, but I'm now retired in north Georgia. Financially secure. I enjoy travel, dining in restaurants, concerts, cultural events. I'm a traditional Southern Gentleman who respects women. I've been an editor, church & conference center administrator. I'm also a building contractor. I walk beside or behind women, never ahead (unless a bear is prowling around!). I have a good sense of humor, in good health, traditional, but not conservative, politically moderate, enjoy volunteer and civic projects. Have a vacation home in the mountains of North Carolina. I'm vegetarian but not critical of those who aren't. I'm fluent in English & stumble through Spanish!

An orchestra concert or dinner at a nice, but not exclusive restaurant (or both). Most important is to sense comfort & rapport with my guest. Conversation should come gently & freely. Plenty of smiles. A little humor. Interest in the other person, but not intrusive.

J'ai toujours voulu essayer

A short cruise (3-5 days) on a river or along the coast with stops in historical locations & places of natural beauty. I fly often, but confess to moderate claustrophobia, so prefer aisle seats. Wouldn't enjoy ocean cruises for similar reasons.

I confess--I've never dated a homely woman! Sounds chauvinistic? Sorry. But just as important as "looks" is dressing well for the occasion. I prefer mildly reserved women to loud extroverts. None of this matters without kindness, values, intelligence, dignity (but not stuffiness or arrogance), talents, loyalty, & a warm personality.
